Technology Curriculum
Students in grades 1 through 5 work toward mastery of age-appropriate technology skills through using technology in their everyday classroom instruction with their classroom teacher and through 30 minutes of formal technology time weekly. Their "Technology Time" work is closely tied to classroom curriculum and projects. Within the classroom, the use of technology is embedded in many projects and units in which technology enhances and enriches the learning experience, and is used to supplement delivery of instruction.
By the end of grade 2, students will be able to:
Be comfortable with using computer and mouse; be familiar with parts of a computer;
Create new files; save, quit, and print appropriately;
Work collaboratively and responsibly with others
using technology;
Explore multimedia applications pertaining to units of study;
Use software to support and enhance learning of concepts and skills;
Use basic word processing features, including composing at the keyboard;
Create simple graphs and understand examples of their use;
Effectively use the Internet for research;
Use technology tools for problem solving;
Demonstrate a respectful understanding and observance of the Acceptable Use Policy.
